Basketball Hoop - Advice on Shopping for Your Next Basketball Hoop

A basketball hoop consists of the backboard, rim, net, and sometimes pole. If you’re looking to find a basketball hoop system, it sometimes can be a daunting task as there’s so many different kinds. At first glance it may seem easy, but there is a lot more to choosing a hoop than you may think. I recommend that you find a respected basketball systems provider like www.TopHoops.com that offers a vast selection of the industry’s top models and have a proven history of customer satisfaction.

Hoops can be thought of in two ways, permanent and temporary. The type of hoop you need depends on if you are looking for a basketball hoop that will stay in place or a temporary goal that can be easily moved as needed. Each has its pros and cons.

Permanent hoops are ideal if you have a space that you can devote solely to basketball. Permanent basketball hoops can be in-ground or wall mounted. In-ground hoops are set in the ground with cement. This can be done level to a driveway or a backyard concrete slab. Wall mounted hoops can be attached to the side of a house or a roof. These types of hoops are more durable, but are not easy to remove.

Temporary hoops are best if you don’t have a lot of space to devote to basketball. One popular type of temporary basketball hoop is a portable hoop. These hoops come with a base that can be filled with sand or water to give them stability. Portable hoops can be moved to the street, a driveway or a backyard. These hoops offer flexibility, but are not as durable as permanent basketball hoops.

Whether you go with a temporary or permanent type of basketball hoop, you’ll find most are customizable. You can choose what type of goal, backboard, and other features you want to make your basketball goal meet your needs. Knowing what type of basketball hoop will meet your needs makes it easy to find the one that is right for you and your space.

Are Nike dunks good should to play basketball in?

By admin · Filed in basketball goal · 5 Comments »

i play indoor basketball and i been looking for some solid basketball shoes and I checked out the Nike Dunks and they looked pretty sick. I wanted shoes to go out in and playing basketball in too.
Competitively, not really. They lack ankle support, are heavy, not much cushioning either. If you are just playing around, or just shooting or something I’d say you could wear them. Just not jumping around and running full court and changing directions quickly. In the end, its up to you but I’d say by some better shoes that would give you a more competitive edge. If you are playing indoor ball, you don’t wanna be wearing your shoes outside of the gym anyways. That is a given… Buy some dunks to go out it and another pair of shoes to ball in. Thats what i say!

Hoops Advice - 3 Tips to Help You Play Like Kobe on the Basketball Court

By admin · Filed in basketball hoop · 9 Comments »

Kobe Bryant is definitely the best player in the NBA at this moment. Without a doubt.

His offensive skills are amazing. He can hit any shot at any location on the court at any given moment. And it’s not just his offensive skills. He has the right mental preparation and state to know what’s going on the court while he’s on defense. He knows how to position himself well so he knows how to steal the ball. After watching him play a game, I thoink to myself, “Wow. I dream of playing just like him.” I’m sure that you would want to play like him also.

Kobe has a certain style when he plays, and I know what kind of style that is. So I’ll give you three simple tips on how you can improve you game, and play the way Kobe Bryant plays.

1. Practice Your Fadeaway
The way Kobe can score points is by creating space between his guard. He probably has the greatest fadeaway shot since Michael Jordan.

Keep in mind when practicing your fadeaway, to always square up to the hoop when you are at the peak of your jump. The source of the power from your shot is from your wrist action, so remember to flex your wrist to get that ball in the hoop.

2. Know How to Drive to the Hoop Efficiently
Kobe can get easy baskets by beating his opponent and driving to the basket. The first step to driving to the basket is by getting past your opponent. Do this by doing a simple jab step or crossover. Then explode to the hoop, but be aware that there are probably help defenders that will come upon you.

An important thing when driving to the hoop is to not be afraid. Be confident and keep on moving agressively to the hoop. Be smart and make the right decisions. Don’t throw up a bad shot. Instead dish it off to an open teammate.

3. Be Aware
The reason why Kobe Bryant is so amazing, is because he has a high awareness of what’s going on in the court. He knows exactly where to be at the right time. Awareness is essential to any basketball player because you can predict what will happen in a certain situation before it even happens. This helps especially when you are on defense.

Basketball Hoops - The Pros and Cons of an In-Ground Basketball Hoop

In-ground basketball hoops can be seen in schoolyards and parks the world over. Children and adults alike gather for a lively game of hoops, sometimes as often as every day in such places where all you have to bring is a ball and a drive to win.

With this type of equipment, there is no base to possibly get in the way of that slam dunk landing. Materials used to construct the poles are rigid and sturdy, as well as weather resistant, often times featuring a strong powder coat finish which is rust and scratch resistant. Backboards are available in a variety of sizes, from the standard 72″ down to 54″ for the smaller space. Backboards are also available in an array of construction materials, from new technology Polycarbonate boasting shatter proof properties, to the traditional tempered glass that is still used in professional settings. Materials such as steel, fiberglass and acrylic are also used in making backboards.

Many poles are adjustable, making it easy to play with kids of all ages. Finding a unit with a range of up to 4 feet helps to offer something for everyone. Some come in pieces, and others are single unit, solid style. Solid poles will be more sturdy and hold up incredibly against all the beatings the backboard will take. Flex hoops with springs also help to cushion the impact from the ball and hands that may hang on after a dunk.

Once installed, an in-ground hoop is ready to go for several seasons of use! It just may take a few days to get it completely ready. The first step in setting up an in-ground hoop is to be sure of the location you wish to place it in. Once in, it will be there for good. For this reason, you want to be absolutely sure the location is exactly what you want and what will work best for your space and lifestyle.

When you have chosen the location for your hoop and you have the necessary concrete from your local home improvement store, you will cut a hole into your existing concrete that is 24″ diameter by 36″ deep. Then you will place the plate and J-bolts into the hole and pour cement into the hole. You will want at least 15″ of the pole to be buried in concrete, so it may help to mark the pole 15″ from the bottom. Using a leveler will help you to know your pole is inserted properly, straight up and down. If your pole is in pieces, you will need to wait 72 hours before attaching the remaining pieces of the pole to the piece that is inserted into the concrete.

Aside from a bit more prep work, an in-ground unit offers many of the same options as do other hoops. With the benefit of longevity and sturdiness, it can be the hoop enthusiasts greatest procurement for their home court!

Check out the wide variety of in ground basketball hoops below and find the perfect hoop for you and your family.

Basketball Hoop Nets: What Kinds Are Available?

When you are looking for basketball hoops and goals, you also need to consider the type of net you will use. For many units, the net comes as part of the package but you can buy this item separately as well. To make a good choice when it comes to basketball nets, you need to educate yourself about the different types that are available.

Not all basketball nets are constructed from nylon. You can also choose a chain net. Since chain will last longer than a nylon net, it is a good long-term investment when you are looking for quality equipment for the gym or playground. When you are looking at updating your existing basketball nets, consider the cost against the number of years of use you will get from them.

You may be able to buy nylon basketball nets for a lower price, but you should also plan on replacing them much more often than if you bought a chain net in the first place. You also need to factor in the time it will take to re-equip your basketball hoops and goals with nylon nets every so often. This type of maintenance should be factored in when you are trying to make the best decision about your basketball equipment needs. Considering your initial investment upfront, and the lasting benefits of your equipment may help you justify a slightly higher expense for a better product.

The FT10 can be used in competition. It is also suitable for home use when you want to upgrade your existing basketball net to something that is of better quality. The FT10 is made from braided nylon and comes with a one-year limited warranty.

Another choice to consider when it comes to basketball nets is the FT10AW. This product is made from a heavier nylon braid than the FT10. The advantage to choosing it over the F10 is the fact that it reduces the whip that is commonly experienced with lighter-weight nets. Again, this basketball net comes with a one-year warranty.

The FT11E is an economy chain net that will last longer than a nylon one. It can be used with any style of basketball goal and is attached to it with “S” hooks. This zinc-plated net comes with a one-year limited warranty.

For consumers who are prepared to invest in a higher-quality chain basketball net, consider the F11. Welded hoops mean that there is no risk of injury to the players. The chain net can be attached to any style of basketball goal, and heavy duty “S” hooks are used for this purpose. It is zinc plated, and comes with a one-year warranty.

Before you decide to invest in a chain basketball net, it’s a good idea to make sure that the unit you are considering can be used with the style of basketball goal you are working with. That way, you can be sure that you are getting the right product for your needs. As long as the chain net can be used with your existing basketball goal, this is the choice that will be more durable over the long term.
